Millennium Plastics traces its origins back to 1953, when the visionary Egon Schmidt founded Egon Schmidt Plastics and Egon Schmidt Tool and Diemaking. These pioneering companies began their journey on Commissioner Street in Johannesburg before relocating to 55 Gold Street. In 1960, Eberhard Hugow joined as a partner, and in 1965, Jupp Hamers became part of the team as a Tool and Mould Designer and Tool Workshop Manager.

The early 1970s brought a significant shift when Egon Schmidt Tool and Die Making moved to Rustenberg, and Egon Schmidt Plastics became dormant. After the passing of Egon Schmidt in 1984, the company underwent restructuring, with Eberhard Hugow, Jupp Hamers, and Ivan Le Roux becoming equal partners and shareholders. This period marked a time of growth and innovation, with the company housing a modern tool workshop and factory floor equipped with around 50 moulding machines, ranging from 20 to 500 T capacity, serving the entire South African market. The design and manufacturing of Pool and Soccer Table accessories became the company’s main income source, products that are still in production today.

In 2005, as Mr. Hugow and Mr. Hamers approached retirement, Millennium Plastics entered a new chapter with the acquisition by Mark Rogotzki. Mark brought a fresh perspective and enthusiasm, ensuring the company continued to thrive. By 2007, Millennium Plastics had outgrown its premises and relocated to a larger factory in Stormville. This move allowed for the replacement of old injection moulding machines with new models, significantly improving production efficiency and expanding the tool room capacity. By 2013, the company had settled into its own premises in Robertville, a reflection of its continued success and growth.

With Kevin and Felix now at the helm, Millennium Plastics is poised to continue its legacy of excellence while embracing the future with renewed energy and innovation. The journey from our humble beginnings to where we stand today has been one of dedication, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to quality. As we move forward, we honor our roots while keeping our eyes firmly on the horizon, ready to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The future is indeed exciting!
