Our Design Process

It all starts with a concept that is refined until it is finally embedded in production tooling.

The steps include substantial inputs from experienced technical staff as well as computer-aided design.

Design and development for production in the specialised area of injection moulding, is a highly technical and complex discipline. Well-qualified engineers, industrial designers and tool-makers team up to produce real-world solutions.

Design and development for production in the specialised area of injection moulding, is a highly technical and complex discipline. Well-qualified engineers, industrial designers and tool-makers team up to produce real-world solutions.

In order to orchestrate and sequence a complex development process requires a particular management skill-set coupled to a thorough design and development methodology. This has become known as 'The Design Process'

The typical sequence is:

  • Real-world requirements as a brief

  • Research into function, materials and processes

  • Concept generation and ideas

  • Best concept option selection

  • Design refinement with CAD

  • Component design

  • Tooling Design

  • Manufacture of tooling die sets

  • Trial component runs

  • Tooling tweaks and finalisation

  • Final tooling for production

  • Production runs
